What is the Fly Over Zone?

The Fly Over Zone is how people from either the West Coast or East Coast of the United States of America refer to the Middle American landscape.

If used in a conversation properly it would be used like so:

"Oh, you have been to America? Where did you visit?"
"I went to Ohio."
"Ah, a visit to the Fly Over Zone, sorry to hear that."
"The Fly Over Zone?"
"You know the areas where you are supposed to fly over, never stopping. East to West coast, West to East coast but never anything in the middle."

It's true that many of the places in the mid-west, middle and mid-east are quite nice, they are the exception to this rule.
