What is emo surfing (emosurfing)?

Emo surfing is the act of searching for an ex-friend (lover or platonic) to see what they are currently publishing online. Mainly this act results in feeling terrible and being very sad regardless of the content. It's a nicer way of saying "cyberstalking" or "creepy and obsessed." Emo surfing is similar and related to the well known concept of ego surfing. (Thanks to Dani for the pointer.)
