How much coffee/Mountain Dew can you drink before dying?

The LD50 of caffeine (the amount that has about a 50% death rate in humans) seems to be about 10 grams. That generally comes down to about 50 to 200 cups of coffee, or 100 to 400 cans of Mountain Dew (because a cup of coffee has about twice as much caffeine as a can of Mountain Dew).

For Linux geeks: This means the fatal dose of Penguin Mints seems to be about 300 or more mints. At 75 mints per tin, you'd need to down 4 tins to get there, and I bet you'd feel really bad after finishing off just the first tin.

All these facts and many many more are at the Caffine FAQ.
