Here's the reason why: hungary-online has died and been born again. Previously HOL was sponsored by Odin Kft, a startup Internet provider here in Budapest, Hungary. However they had some technical problems involved with moving offices and installing new software. As a result the software sending out the list messages stopped working. At that point I looked around and started asking others if they could run the list. The trouble is that such a list generates a good deal of traffic. The connections here are slow, and providers are either non-profit, or low budget. So it made sense to look beyond this part of the world. After all, geography is pretty much irrelevant on the Net. So HOL has found a new home. Strick (AKA Henry Strickland) is a friend that lives in the SF Bay area and has a high bandwidth connection to a SUN workstation in his living room. He's agreed to host HOL. Let me say I have no hard feelings with Odin. The name of the game here is cooperation. The folks at Odin gave the list a good start, and I'd like to take this moment to thank them. And I'd like to thank Strick. He's gone to some trouble to set things up so that we can carry on communicating as ever before. Now let's get on with the show. =steve= --- Steven Carlson Moderator/Publisher - hungary-online Critical Mass Media Inc.
