Maybe Markoff can get the same sort of spin that George Lucas got off Star Wars, and _honestly_, if this story can do a tiny bit to keep people's minds off the re-emerging cold war mentality, then GREAT! Power it UP! Bring on the CyberJedi! Let's have the new, positive version of hackers in the media. Let's talk about someone doing something right for a change instead of reinforcing the FUD of the unwashed technophobes out there. Crimony, I'm not going to begrudge Tsutomu his due for baggin' that bozo Mitnick. Although... Mitnick sure made it easy for him... :) Tamas, I respect your skills, :) but you make an empty argument here about a decent tech-writer, Markoff. Absolutely nothing you've said about his creative embellishment, sometimes to protect people's identities, leads me to thing he sucks in any way. Try writing a book (other than a tech manual) sometime and see if you get it 100% factually correct, then you can talk... I mean, look at the nice piece our own Rick Bruner, late of my mailbox, wrote about Bojar Gabor: there's so much myth mixed in with the fact, it reads like a marketing piece, but there's nothing inherently _wrong_ with that! It's all a Cult of Personality, people! That's _OK_... as long as you don't buy into it too deeply... dave __________________________________________________________________ "I do not resent criticism, even when, for the sake of emphasis, it parts for the time with reality." --Winston Churchill ############# # This message to Hungary-Online@hungary.yak.net # was from Dave Del Torto # # To unsubscribe, # send "unsubscribe" to # An announcement-only subscription (less volume) is available # at # Send mail to for more information, # or to if you need human assistance. #############
