I have received some information from the American Radio and Relay League. Below is what it says. ( I'm not trying to fix any errors as I type, and I'm probably introducing a few. Some is difficult to read. ) Also there is a table of "Hungarian FM Relais [relays] and Links", with a list of 25 repeaters, 8 of which are in Budapest. One is in the 29MHzs (10 meter band), three are in the range 443-445Mhz (70 cm band) , and the rest are in 144-146 (2 meter band). It seems most require 500Hz tone burst to activate, some take 1750Hz, and some take "nincs" or "nem hasznalatos". There is a date of Oct 1990 at the top, so I think the list is quite out of date. So I've enjoyed playing with my new 2 meter handitalki, and I join a 10am "network" on it, when I can. It's a copule dozen people who just check in on each other each morning, and many of them moniter it the rest of the day, and chat a good bit. I'm not that talkative. It's pretty geeky, and kind of backward compared to what's available over the internet, but I'm still hoping it makes a good portable little toy for my travelling this summer. -- strick a.k.a. ke6rfb@ham.yak.net -------------------------- Hungarian Radioamateur Society (MRASZ) P O Box 11 H-1400 Budapest Tel +361 112 1616 GUEST LICENSE FOR FOREIGN RADIOAMATEURS IN HUNGARY Every radioamateur in possession of a licence may request a guest licence for its stay in Hungary. IF YOU NEED HELP ... In Hungary there is day-and-night ais service in operation using the VHF-FM repeaters. If there is an emergency situation, you can call for help using an 1750 Hz calling tone (on some repeaters 500 Hz) and saying "Shagayheawash", but it's preferably you call for the assistance of an english speaking Hungarian ham. If you call in English, use the expression: "Emergency, this is HA/....... (own callsign)." At the end say please "End of emergency call of HA/....... (callsign)". You find more information on this service and the connected repeaters in the Hungarian repeater list. Useful phone numbers in Budapest: Ambulance 04 firefighters 05 Police 07 You get access to these also by using the repeaters and the emergency networks. -------------------------- ############# # This message to Hungary-Online@hungary.yak.net # was from ke6rfb@ham.yak.net (strick) # # To unsubscribe, # send "unsubscribe" to # An announcement-only subscription (less volume) is available # at # Send mail to for more information, # or to if you need human assistance. #############
