Recognita, for those who don't know it, is probably the most successful software company in Central Europe (to my knowledge, anyway, and I report on the industry). They are makers of OCR (i.e., "optical character recognition" -- the stuff that enables a scaner to turn manuscript pages into ASCII text). Thanks to good ole Hungarian brain power and a bit of unusually good marketing (for this part of the world), Recognita is presently among the three neck-in-neck top competitors in the OCR field worldwide. The Area Sales Manager job would entail a fair bit of travel around Western Europe and even to such far-flung locales as South Africa, Szucs said. The position would be available to either a Hungarian or a foreigner; Hungarian language skills are NOT essential, English IS; any other languages would obviously be a plus. The salary would be in the range of "high" by Hungarian standards, "not high" by Western standards, approx HUF 1-2 million annually (gross) said Szucs (roughly $8,300-$16,600 by today's forint). Travel is obviously a perc. The PR job could be done freelance, simply announcing new product lines to western publications, etc., well suited for a journalist. I might have even considered it myself, but I'm leaving in Septemeber and they want some level of consistency.
