Date: Fri, 14 Apr 1995 17:31:14 EDT From: Tibor Beke Content-Length: 1175 Sender: owner-Hungary-Online@hungary.yak.net Precedence: bulk Reply-To: Hungary-Online@hungary.yak.net It'll be a hard call -- it has such a nice ring to it. And of course, 'hol' means 'where' in Hungarian, a generic cry of human cluelessness. :-> You know, Steve, finding out what HOL really is came as a sort of dis- appointment (Tibor Beke hereby gets shot by Steve Carlson). Let's face it, to a fair extent, regurgitation of items originating in US networks and US media, re-cast via a US carrier (Steve Carlson kicks Tibor Beke's already lifeless body :-). No denying, HOL is also an exceptional and valuable conglomerate of human capital. Anyway, when I first heard there was something called 'Hungary On-Line', I really thought this was something on-line, something one can plug into, find out the current weather or such vital info as the number of Kentucky Fried Chickens in the country, or perhaps Hungary On-Line was a giant Soros-meet-information duperhypeway program to put a Tandy Home Computer Into Every Hungarian Home. This email-list and BBJ column are more like "On-Line in Hungary" or "On-Line in Central Europe" or "Networks and Me" (no, sorry, Me and Net Works). As for non-western analogues of DATO: try Lajos Kossuth's Dunamenti Koztarsasag. :) Tibor ############# # This message to Hungary-Online@hungary.yak.net # was from Tibor Beke # # To unsubscribe, # send "unsubscribe" to # An announcement-only subscription (less volume) is available # at # Send mail to for more information, # or to if you need human assistance. #############
