The HOL list runs on a SUN workstation sitting in Strick's living room somewhere in the SF Bay Area. Strick has been at large in Europe for several weeks now. Thanks to his very liberal bosses at Versant, Strick has the summer free. That means he'll spend most of July and August in Budapest and its immediate environs. This is also your chance to meet some of the people that communicate on HOL. We had a get together last year and quite a few folks have expressed interest in doing it again. If you don't know the Feszek, it's worth a visit. You'll find it not far from Blaha Lujza in the VII district. It's actually a private club, so you have to pay a token entrance fee of something like Ft 100. That price is worth it, because you get to sit in a very elegant courtyard garden - nice atmosphere for a lazy summer evening. I've reserved a large table outdoors under the name 'Karolyffi' - which is the easiest way for Hungarians to deal with a name like Carlson. (Please note the aristocratic spelling.) We don't really have an agenda for the meeting. However a lot has been happening on the Internet scene, and this might be a good way to catch up. Anyway that's my plan. As you may have noticed the list has been pretty quiet lately, which has a lot to do with the fact that my home phone is out, and I've been busy setting up my new company. You might be interested to know how Strick keeps in contact while on the road. He uses an acoustic coupler to send his email over a pay phone. Actually, the solution is a bit more elegant than that, but I'll let Strick tell you the details himself.
