It also seems like much of what I do offline is telling people what's online. (Except when I'm busy having a life.) Anyway. These are a few of my favorite online info sources. These are all available by email, and all related in some way to understanding the Internet. This list is by no means complete - these are just my top picks. Why email? I also spend plenty of time surfing the web, but I don't always return to the same places. On the other hand, email always finds me. That's convenient. I like filtered info sent by email. I also follow a few mailing lists, but I often find the noise drowns out the signal. If I haven't listed your favorite source, write me and tell me. I'm always looking to widen my information diet. Robert Seidman still has a day job at IBM, but the effort he puts into this newsletter is starting to earn him a reputation. email - Subject: Ignored Body: subscribe online-l Cyberwire Dispatch - free A reporter for Interactive Week, Brock Meeks has been hammering out the copy and uploading his CyberWire Dispatches to The WELL's WiReD conference since November, 1993. Quick, off-the-cuff, interactive journalism, covering the political machinations of telecommunications on the Beltway and beyond. "Jouralism with attitude." Brock's been quiet lately, but he's worth watching. email - Subject: Ignored Body: subscribe cwd-l TidBITS - free (sponsored) In 1990, Adam Engst and his wife started out sending out their free newsletter covering Internet and the Macintosh. The Internet Marketing list has become a forum for some very innovative web entrepreuners, and is worth watching if only to learn who is who. The high volume of this list makes it difficult to follow day by day, but the level of discussion is generally high thanks to moderator Glenn Fleishman. You're well advised to subscribe to the digest, which is a daily mailing of all the list's postings. You'll receive instructions about how to do that when you subscribe. email - Subject: Ignored Body: Ignored Finally, a Shameless Plug ... I run two lists, here at iSYS Hungary. We hope you'll find them useful. online-europe The Online Europe Development list is a brand new resource aimed at bringing together people active in developing European Internet. I've modeled it after Glenn Fleishman's inet-marketing list, and I hope it does as much good as his list has. There's plenty to talk about on this continent, including telecoms entering the local Internet markets, local government and EU legislation, local language content and so on. The idea for this list originated in a meeting of European Internet providers held at Esther Dyson's East-West High-Tech Forum this October in Bled, Slovenia. email - Subject: Ignored Body: subscribe online-europe hungary-online Twice I month, I write a column for the Budapest Business Journal called Hungary Online.
